It can be pulled through the top with the intake on. TPIS has a plate that you bolt on to the intake and lift the motor out. If you want i have one you can buy. LMK

I just finished pulling out my motor alone yesterday with the maniflold hoist plate. Buy it if you are serious about doing this. Makes the job easier. you can also leave the a/c intact.

Save your money on that intake manifold tool. I pulled my motor through the top without the intake on and with the heads. It's a real easy job. There are some pictures in my signature of the motor going back in through the top.

yeah....like SO MANY others....I had heard SO MUCH about how HARD pulling a motor out of the Camaro was going to be from the top....

My car has new/non stock brake lines and other mods that made it a pain to disconnect it all to go out the bottom...and I was in a rush, so I couldn't wait for the TPiS tool....I spent a Saturday morning pulling off all the "stuff" off the motor, but heads, all front stuff not easily removed was still on it....tranny was not....so 3-4 hours to remove stuff then......took 20 minutes to get it out the top using a cheap chain!

How is it being lifted, i can't see it too good in the picture? It looks like it's screwed into the intake holes on the head.

I'll be pulling mine soon and need all the info i can get.

thanks

I took off the intake and put the chain on two bolts ran into the heads, it worked fine and relatively easy, I was really surprised at how easy it was and I've done it both ways now. As a precaution I would remove the radiator, if it's an M6 the hardest part is coaxing it off the shaft

Carlos THIS Pic would be a perfect addition to a desktop or something. I love how there's a photo of the engine with the eye's of the TA lurking out the garage at her new heartbeat.
