LT1 Rebuild Questions

I had this Lt1 in my garage for about 3 years now, thinking I better rebuild it since it sat for so long, and I was going to do a cam to my car anyway I figured why not just do it to this engine and do an engine swap later. But upon tearing it down it had plenty of oil through out the engine (oil pan had been drained before it was put on the stand 3 years ago); cam was coated, lifters were coated, bearings were soaked, cylinders even had a film to my surprise. The only thing I did when I first got the engine (a fully dressed pull) was to plug every orifice to keep critters out. Well once I had the block down to just the crank needing removal, I inspected the block and I only had .003 endplay in the crank (woohoo), rod caps had removed easily (I've had some on other engines give me fits)there are still cross hatch patterns in the cylinder bores with hardly a ridge at the top of the cylinder, and the cleanliness... and well I wonder if this engine has even less miles than I was told (50,000, suposed to be a '95) so this brings me to my questions. Since this block and components are in such great shape would just a tanking and honing do for a rebuild? I had heard not to over bore unless you need to. What Cam should I put in for 'fun' street driving and can I reuse the original lifters? What other parts should I reuse (pistons, rods, opti...) I'm planning on using my '93's speed density system and ditch the 95's pcm and maf, is this a good plan also? I have more questions but can't think of them right now. I'm sure I'll add them here as i think of them though.

You should be fine with the honing. I really doubt you would need to over-bore. It sounds like the engine was not abused. For fun street driving I would recommend the CC305. If you're gonna do head/intake work I would go with the CC306. You can reuse the original lifters. You can also reuse the pistons and the rods. The pistons will probably have a little carbon build up, but that will be fine. The opti...well, listening to everyone on this board I have just been waiting on an opti to go bad. The TA I own now is the 6th one I have had and have yet to have opti problems. Just to be on the safe side with my last build up I replaced the opti with a new unit that I got from a friend at a local dealership for $100. I don't really know what to tell you about the PCM and MAF. I've never owned a 93.

I reused practically everything on my last rebuild. I pretty much just went through and re-ringed the motor. At the time I couldn't afford everything I wanted so I went the cheap route. I have started purchasing parts for my next build-up and will do it right next time. I would suggest going ahead and spending the extra money for forged pistons...etc. on your rebuild. You will be glad you did in the long run.
