Lt1 Rebuild Kit
Lt1 Rebuild Kit
Where Is The Best/cheapest Good Place To Buy A Rebuild Kit For An Lt1. I Just Bought A 94 Formula Yesterday For $1500 And It Doesnt Run. Stock Motor With 184k. I Think That It Has Blown A Headgastket Cause Wont Turn Over And Got Water In Oil. I Am Thinking That There Is Water In One Of The Cylinders And That Is What Is Keeping It From Turning Over. Anyways Time To Rebuild Trans Has Been Done Is Less Than 50k. I Basically Want To Do A Stock Rebuild And Possibly Forged Pistons. I *might* Do A 100 Shot Later On. And Might Do A Hot Cam Also. Let Me Know What You Guys Think. Also I Am Looking For Some Ws6 Wheels Or Black Zr1 If You Guys Are Selling.
Re: Lt1 Rebuild Kit
If you can find a good local engine builder you might just take it to them.
I had almost the exact car, Formula w/ blown engine when I bought it. I did a 355 and had the machine shop order the internal parts I needed. I bought GM timing set, springs, and all gaskets & seals myself and took those to them.
Mine was more trashed too, cylinder was cracked, piston trashed, rod trashed, and crank scored. Got it sleeved, new pistons, couple replacement rods from their stash, and crank refinished.
Engine runs great. I went all the way on some items, so you can do it cheaper. But a stockish rebuild can be done for much less than $2K for a solid engine.
