Lt1 radiator support differences from ls1

Hey guys I found a few threads searching on this subject but I couldn't find a clear answer. I need a radiator support for my 95 trans am lt1 with the 96-97 ram air setup. Ive read that the top is different to accommodate the lid of the ls1 cars and a lt1 setup won't work in a ls1. But will the ls1 style work for a lt1 setup?

Thank you

Need clarification - What part does an LS1 component play in the change you are making? Are you trying to use an LS1 air box?

I have a 96/97 Ram Air hood and air box sitting on my stock 94 radiator support. The plastic radiator cover was cut down slightly on the trailing edge, but that was because the Griffin aluminum radiator was a bit taller than the factory radiator.

Hey thanks for the reply.

Nothing related to ls1 on my car. I just need to replace my radiator support due to an accident and it seems to aquire a ls1 style support is much easier. I just want to know if it will work on my car.

Is that a ls1 support on your car? Car looks great by the way. Really clean.

Re: Lt1 radiator support differences from ls1

No. my setup is entirely LT1 stock. The hood and airbox are the SLP Ram Air HO setup, which is identical to the factory WS6 parts. The airbox looks different because I opened up the cover by removing the louvers in the stock cover.

The only thing we had to do to the plastic top radiator cover ("radiator upper mounting panel") was trim some plastic off the edge so it would fit over the Griffin radiator. The stock installation includes a soft "insulator" that sandwiches between the plastic top panel and the top of the radiator. I had to delete that because of height issues with the aftermarket radiator. And the cover is bolted directly into the radiator because it was a bit taller than the stock radiator But the radiator support parts are all stock 1994, which as far as I know are identical 1993-1997. I have compared my setup to a friend's stock 97 Comp T/A Ram Air setup, and they were identical. No need for any different parts. You can still see my 94's original emissions stickers under the airbox.

The stock LS1 non-Ram Air upper plastic cover/support is different because the LS1 airbox is a "bottom feeder"..... the air comes in from the bottom through slots in the plastic radiator cover. I have never looked at a 98-02 Ram Air setup, so I don't know how different that is, but I don't know how any of that is related to your question if you plan to put a 96/97 Ram Air box on your 95.

Thanks that's a bunch of info. I already have the setup. I just was seeing if I could use the ls1 style support.
