LT1 Questions

WIll an LT1 crank work in an older block? Its my understanding that you can put an LT1 Crank in Any one piece Seal block but not the other way around. WIll a Regular Balancer Fit On the snout of the LT1 Crank? The LT1 Crank I know is balanced Different And thats why you need the rods and pistons as a complete setup. Am i totally wrong?

All one piece rear seal engines are externally balanced from the factory. The snout on the LT1 unlike other SBC is not keyed and has a tapered hub. Pistons and rods are typical SBC. The front hubs are neutral with the exception of a little tweaking from the factory on occasion.

If I am not mistaken the LT1 cranks are keyed or atleast channeled for a key from the factory but one was not installed from the factory. If this is true all you need to do is install a key and have the hub grooved or keyed as well. Can't remember for sure as my eagle crank is keyed.
