lt1 oil pump help?
lt1 oil pump help?
Ok guys well I serched & read all old articles but none really answer my questions so here goes & thanks in advance
I have a lt1 96 corvette block with corvette pan
To my knowledge the corvette pan is a quart larger then a stock z28 pan
which is why I used it.
Now the questions is I bought a gm perf parts pump 12555884 high pressure to put back in & it uses a 5/8 inlet
original pump uses a 3/4 inlet
obvious answer right get a 5/8 inlet p/u
in that lies the problem I found a 5/8 inlet for gm cars but it is angled a bit different & the screen portion is much larger
The guys at the parts store can't seem to find a 5/8 inlet listed for a 96 vette so if anyone has any input I would really appreciate it

Is this a race engine with loose bearing tolerances? If not, just buy a stock GM pump for that engine and be done with it. A high pressure pump is not even close to being necessary for a street engine.

thanks shoebox
you were right on with the earlier model
according to my parts site the corvette in 93 had a 5/8 pickup also
so I am ordering both to see the difference
By the way your site is great it has helped me alot
