Re: lt1 oil pressure help

It isn't likely that second oil pressure sensor doing the same thing as the first is a fault of the second sensor. Tou'll have to look to the wiring to sort this out...

If the wire is disconnected you get max reading on the gauge. If the wire is grounded youmgetbzero on the gauge. Sounds like the wire is grounded somewhere..maybe worn through and touching the block....

Re: lt1 oil pressure help

also when cold the gauge is in the middle like 40psi. the it goes down as it goes up thats normal, but it goes to 0 and you have to bring the rpm up to 2000 to get it to move and when it does it goes to 20 psi.

Re: lt1 oil pressure help

If its high mileage could the pump be wearing out?

Have you checked the voltage coming to the switch to see if its getting proper voltage? You'll need a voltmeter for that. I have a '97 GM shop manual I can look for the test procedures of the switch if you don't have that info. I am sure the '97 isn't different in regards to that switch than the '97.

Re: lt1 oil pressure help

I'd suggest taking a look at the oil pump stub drive.

Re: lt1 oil pressure help

It has good pressure looking at the machanical gauge i hooked up to it for a week. it the electric one not working. i was thinking it could be the motor in the cluster that drives the needle but not sure. has any one herd of the motor in the cluster going or is it not likely the problem
