LT1 To LT4, worth it?

I will be rebuilding my engine soon and when looking to see what's out there, I found this conversion on Summit. I need your opinions on if it's worth it or not.

Easy does it. He only has 18 posts. Maybe he might not know how to get around yet...

it says that your engine will get 425+ hp so if it does I would say it would be worth the $2,300.

Re: LT1 To LT4, worth it?

i will sum up the information you will find on the LT4 conversion. Yes it has been asked and answered alot of times but hear it is. You can get much more bang for your buck by going with a Lloyd Elliot head/cam package and it will cost you alot less. This proven 425 HP is rated at the flywheel unlike the other packages you will look at. The proven hp was done by tests done by More performance in 97-98 or something like that, and the test were done on an engine dyno. With the kit, there was a bigger TB, injectors..etc...also the ECM used was a aftermarket one, and there were no accessories run on the engine. Thus the "Proven" hp stated was a gross HP, not SAE...also it would take all the bolt ons to achieve this power stated..is it worth it...NO not to me. I think the others have yelled at you enough....just remember the "Search" feature is your friend here.

that power is to the crank, with headers full exhaust and a 3,000$ Ecu that they forgot to mention.... so you hp#'s to the wheels can reange from 320-370 u usually depending on your setup

IMO......No, more power can be had for alot less. The AI and Le setups are considerably cheaper and will make considerably more power. But to each his own...

Re: LT1 To LT4, worth it?

To that $2300 you can add about $1k or more for all the supporting mods/bolt ons you will need to acheive that figure.

There are much better head/cam setups out there for less money.

That 425 flywheel hp is only about 360 or so rwhp.

Re: LT1 To LT4, worth it?

Thanks guys and I will use search engine from now on B4 posting.

And to you, onlyone07, if it's been asked so many times don't read the thread and don't respond. It's that simple. Relax, I think you were so flustered that you mispelled 'eleventy'.

I think he means that "Eleventy" is not a word. Eleventh is.

However, JRR Tolkien did use the word in the Lord of the Rings --(From the roomate )
