lt1 to lt4 or not?

I am planning on buying a 1996 or 1997 SS when i get back from iraq. I am planning on paying around 12,000 for the car and putting another 6000 into it. What do you guys recommend. I want to try to get to the low 12's if possible or at least a good start. I was looking at the Lt4 upgrade kit but the cam is a little small i think and i'm not sure about the heads. any help would be appreciated. thanks

www.eportworks.com
He has the best Head/Cam Packages for the $$
Check the LE1 and LE2 packages...he also makes custom cams to what your goals are. I would defintly check that out cause it will save you money and will make more power than the LT4
just my .02
How many miles are on the SS that your looking at?

Re: lt1 to lt4 or not?

If you're looking at paying 12 grand for an LT1 then putting 6 into it you shouldn't have a problem building an 11 second car. And if you paid 6 for the car and put 12 into it.....it probably wouldn't be very streetable, but very fast! Just a thought.

Intake Manifolds or Cold air intakes?
yea you will hear alot of others chime in giving Llyod Elliot good feedback for the work he has done. You cant beat his prices!

Good luck, and when do you get back from Iraq?

Re: lt1 to lt4 or not?

i would just try and find a cheaper car...rebuild the motor, buy a 12 bolt with 4:11's, and rebuild a 6spd, and that car would be wicked

If You Already Have A Project Car And Just Want Something Fun, Get A Nice Lt1 And Do Some Bolt Ons And Nitrous To It. They Love Nitrous!!!! Well At Least I Know Mine Does. Lol

LT4 kit is bullsheet.... I have never used Lloyed Elliot, but all I hear is he knows his sheet. I'd check out a head and cam package from him. You'll save money and make alot more power.
