LT1-LT4 conversion kit

Hey, does anyone really know anything, or has a GM performance LT1-LT4 coversion kit on there ride? i was thinking about getting one for mine.... or would a supercharger be a better bet? what are the pro's and con's? Specs: Lt4 cyclinder heads with valves and springs, a red aluminium LT4 intake manifold, Gm performace part's HOT cam with 1.6:1 ratio bow tie roller rockers, and all necessary gaskets, says the kit will give you a proven 425+ HP..... would any other changes to the car be required? any info would be great!!!:cool

425+ at the flywheel, now RWHP. I would go with the supercharger or get your heads ported and polished, and get a new cam. Check out www.advancedinduction.com.

They also used a motec pcm in the car that they failed to mention in the article. There are many guys with ported lt1 heads and pretty mild cams putting down that much or more power for alot less $$.

They do say in Jegs that you need to have your computer reprogrammed to acheive those numbers.

The motec is about 3 grand and will allow much more precise programming than the stock pcm

You dont need the MoTeC PCM to achieve that kind of horsepower. Just imagine trying to dyno the engine with the factory PCM. Not pretty. That is probably why they used the MoTec, which was probably lying around in their shop. It is a good kit, and one that is no hassle to install. Everything is already measured up and matched for you. Just get your valve lash right, and get a tune by either Mad or PCM4Less.

You'll get 400hp with a hotcam, and all the supporting bolt-ons (longtubes a must). So 25hp addition from LT4 heads is no where near out of the question.

Everyone in this board will tell you to go with another set-up (more agressive) because fact is you can get more power for just a little less money or about the same money.

Ill agree with the LT4 setup being not worth it at all
DO heads/Cam and youll be alot happier, also from what im told that 425 HP is flywheel with LTs with aftermarket PCM setup and aftermarket induction
