LT1/LT4 450+ rear wheel horse on A4 just motor?

From what I understand, generating just 400 horses at the rear wheel is a challenge for a pump gas LT1/LT4 Camaro running an A4. Although I have not heard of too many instances where someone is making over that, my friend is having an LT4 built by a race shop and they say it could be 450 rear wheel horse naturally asperated with pump gas!

Does anyone know of combinations that could make this type of power? Is this plausible or just wishful thinking?

My LT1 383 combo setup netted 370 horse "rear wheel" on an A4 with AFR heads and a Comp 503 cam; pump gas. To get another hundred with pump gas seems to me quite a stretch, but I am not an expert on motors.

Its doable. With AFR castings that are nicely worked and a much larger cam then a 503 you could see 450 at the wheels even through an A4. I remember reading about someone not long ago with a B body car running 430 at the wheels with ported stock (LT1) castings and a healthy cam.

I agree that the cam would have to be larger, but there seems to be more of a restriction of choice size when running an A4. The 430 rear wheel result you mentioned is impressive. I just wonder what such combinations are comprised of.

500+ is do able if ya spend the money and take the time to do it.
There are several on this board that have done it but it cost heavy bucks.

yep, and ran fine for what it was...considering some of the strange things done (or not done) to it.

Yep, you've heard the saying, "those that know...NO!" Or did I mean "know" on the second part?

They were the Air Flow Research LT4 195 "race readies." In this 70% CNC ported form, they flow roughly 260 cfm at 500 lift

A lot....especially with a power robbing 12 bolt...Anything over 450 with an auto you'll need 320+cfm heads, mechanical roller helps and good single plain intake makes it easier. As a comparison, Ed Wright makes 508 with a stall, 12bolt through a ported LT4 manifold. Basically, my combo with bigger flowing heads, mechanical roller and more compression... I'm over 50rwhp short of his, as an example. My mellow combo in signature..
