LT1 ---> LT4

What changes would you make from the lt4 hotcam conversion kit for a daily driver. I also want to get away from the optispark so i wanted to go with one of those multiple coil things, but do i just take off the opti or leave it or what do i do?

I would also like to know the answer to this question.
Also is there anything on this list that could be better upgraded, like a cam or push rods, and Rockers?

Off the top of my head, I'd throw in a TB gasket, EGR gasket, fuel injector o-rings, ARP head bolts, 2 banjo bolts (maybe), and 4 crush washers while you're at it.

If you feel your lifters are "tired", throw a new set in. Would hurt to get new pushrods too. Not that all expensive. Good insurance.

What you list as the "water pump seal" is the seal in the timing cover for the w/p driveshaft. You need to throw in a couple of water pump gaskets and probably a pair of o-rings for the w/p shaft. You may not need the valve cover gaskets if yours are in good shape.

You must retain the opti for alternate spark products like the Delteq. Read up about it on their website.

To be honest with you, while you have all of that off (depending on the mileage of your car), it may be a good idea to replace the water pump all together. Whether you stay with the opti or not, having to tear all that apart 10,000 miles down the road for just a water pump will be a pain in the arss. I changed mine when I did my new top end. ITs worth the extra 150 bucks IMO. Just my 2 cents.

When I bought the hot cam kit 5 years ago it came with the rockers, so no need to get the rockers if you're getting the kit.

What makes you say that? All LT4 hotcammed cars are good daily drivers. It's probably the best cam choice for a daily driver.

I would get those cool composite LT4 valve covers, and the LT4 Knock Module, both will try and eliminate the extra noise from the Roller Rockers.

lt4 is mild compaired to what most put in their daily drivers hah.

Haha, I'll second that! Mine is not a daily driver, but I still drive it quite a bit. The best thing about our cars is the tunability. My car gets 22 mpg on the highway, thats better than alot of 6 cyl cars and SUVs. You really have to crank them up to decrease the drivability of these cars. Good luck.

You have the right idea but the wrong direction. Best way to save money is to buy the parts in a kit. GM sells various LT4 HOT cam kits. One kit comes with the heads and intake manifold. As for gaskets, buy a engine rebuild gasket kit by FelPro. After purchasing the 2 kits you will need the extreme duty timing chain, 95 timing chain cover, 95 vented opti-spark, 95 vent tubes and parts to convert to a vented opti-spark, chromemoly push rods, high performance lifters, electric water pump, 58mm throttle body, long tube headers, etc. And you will need the engine tuned. LT1-Edit is a good software program for tuning, or take it to a shop that specializes in tuning newer GM engines. In short, if your going to tear your engine apart, then you should replace as many other parts as possible. Plus you have a high mileage car, so it only makes sense to replace those parts.
