lt1 or ls1 question
lt1 or ls1 question
I have recently bought an lt1 formula, and was wondering, is it really worth putting a lot of money in these cars, from a pure performance standpoint, or should I put the money I could use on the parts torwards an ls1 car instead? again, im looking at it from a pure performance/ value standpoint.
for the money probably a big block is the way to go.
an ls1 sees more gains than an lt1 does, but they are more expensive to buy initially.
lt1s are cheaper to buy and with that extra money you can upgrade to a 383 and aftermarket heads/cam for several thousand
its really all personal choice because it all leads to the same thing --> a fast car.

Mod for mod, the LS1 will most likely always be ahead. There are plenty of fast LT1s out there though, just because it is older technology doesn't mean that the platform is not workable. What kind of goals do you have for the car? A simple heads/cam upgrade, forced induction, or even just simple bolt-ons can wake these cars up.
as of right now i havent done anything, im only 18 and gonna be working a lot this summer before i go to school. Im would like to keep a car for awhile if im gonna do stuff to it, so im stuck inbetweeen saving and putting my money into the lt1, or saving for an ls1 and then eventually doing stuff to that car. Im just not sure which is the right route to go.
I would have to agree as well. Maybe do a couple small/basic mods to the car and let it be. Focus on school, get a good job, and save your money for a house.
