LT1 to LS1 engine conversion...

1. Is it possible? What all has to be changed? Motor mounts, Transmission input shaft, anything else?
I would really kill for an LS1 in my LT1 car and would like to know what all needs to be done for this to work for me...
I appreciate your time and responses,

I don't really know the answer to your queastions, but I do know that you can buy and 98+ Camaro these days for close to 10K, I think it would be alot easir and maybe even cheaper to buy one with the LS1 in it already. If you still plan on doing this I think you are going to need a special K-Member, one that fit the LT1 car and holds the LS1 motor.

It can be done, but It would be WAY easier and cheaper to get an Ls1 car.... do you get the drift?! I have an lt1 car and thought about it, but then realized all the **** you gotta go through, I say you should just build your lt1 and make it faster Imo!

For the price of the LS1 engine alone you could have a LT1 that put out a lot more power. Then for the cost of work and labor to convert it, it you could supercharge your LT1 etc.

Basically, you could have a much much much faster car putting that money into the LT1 than for doing conversion.

Do a search and you'll see a million people have asked this question. It just isn't worth it. Among other things you'll need the new fenders, hood, and front for the engine to fit (or so I've heard). You may be able to get by with a big cowl hood.. the LS1 sits up higher.

As previously stated you could make a killer LT1 that would walk all over most modified LS1's out there for the money it would cost just to install a STOCK LS1!

It really is not some magical engine, in fact if you start modifying the two you'll see each has strong points (reverse flow LT1 cooling for example). The LT1 is a good engine, it's not a dog.. stock for stock the LS1 is just plain better but once you start modifying things well then it's anyone's game.
