lt1 intake leak
lt1 intake leak
I am leaking oil from the back of my intake.. i thought it was the rear main seal but it is the back of the intake.. its soo bad its splashing oil on the firewall as well.. can this hurt the performance of the car at all?
Also 80% of the time once i hit 1500rpms to 2000rpms it hesitates real bad and bogs down i have to almost floor it to get it past 2000rpms i have no power between and i hear a loud sucking sound.. The thing is it sounds like its real close to the firewall were the oil is leaking?? what do u guys think
Also i am going to get a new PCV valve is there anything else i should get to put in with the new gaskets?

It's hard for the dreaded intake manifold leak to suck air. The problem is between the manifold sealing surface and the block. If anything, air is forced out there, taking oil mist with it. That's the oil that covers the back of the block and, apparently, the firewall.
If you hear a sucking noise investigate the pcv, breather and brake booster vacuum lines. If they are leaking they'll suck in air but the idle will be very effected.

Check the oil sending unit for any bulges in it's seal. That happened to me with a brand new unit and it had a fine high pressure mist spewing everywhere behind the block. Also if you do take the intake off be carefull when torquing down the intake bolts. I recommend 30 ft/lbs instead of 35. Why because 35 stripped two of my threads in the alluminum head that the intake attaches too. Let everything set overnight to ensure all the RTV sealant, etc. has plenty of time to seal and set.
see the thing is my idle isnt all over it just is rough like it shakes at idle is that what your talking about? and yeah im pretty sure its a leak cause you can hear it real bad at 1500 to 2000 tpms and i gotta floor it to get it past 2000 and it just feels like the motor is bogging and hestitating in betweeen
You probably have many issues:
Vacuume leak - most likely in tje cold air intake area-may be the donkey dong, slit in elbow or poor assemblige
All of us have an oill leak potential at rear intake manifold - worse with synthetic oil
anothe oil leak under presssure at oill press sensor or EGr
Try renoving the whole EGR set up and install breather cap..the vacuume leak is the performance issue.

yeah i had to make a custom piece for my elbow cause the old one was cracked so i put another piece around it .. and the intake has the air hose hole and its free to move soo im gonna order a new elbow and fix that thanks guys and im still getting my intake fixed its a pain in my @$$ plus i hate the oil being all over
