Re: LT1 Help

How do you know they aren't running correctly? When did it last run correctly and what has been done to the car since then? Was this just all of a sudden or did it get progressively worse? Sorry for all the questions but it's hard to diagnose a problem like this unless you want guesses, which will waste time/money.

Re: LT1 Help

I appreciate the fast help.
I brought the car around christmas and several people have drove it and said it was running very weak compared to there stock LT1 and the tires dont even squill from a dead stop much less go sideways and thats even with a 3.73. Also, someone told me it didnt sound and feel like it was running on all 8 cyclinders strong. It puts out back smoke too.

Re: LT1 Help

I also think that some things were done to it before i bought it because it revs past 5800rpm's. Its a 94, did they come with the rev limiter

Re: LT1 Help

Yes, 94's had a rev limiter. However with a little reprogramming you can raise the shift points and rev limiter. I would start by checking the plugs and wires. Also, is a SES code is present? scan it to see what it is.Do you have headers? If so you might have a wire resting on a primary which could easily destroy the wire. Check each wire carefully, then pull the plugs and check them out. If you still have not fixed the problem with new plugs and wires. Then you could check to see if each cylinder is firing or is weak. Just get a good spare piece of wire and put a plug on it and connect it to the opti and crank the car over a few time. Watch the spark to see if it's strong and consistent, do this for every terminal on the opti. If one of the terminals is producing little to no spark then voila! there is your problem......isn't the opti great?

Re: LT1 Help

O2's are good.
Gm supercenter said that it was running extremely rich. Would this kill the performance by a huge amount.

Re: LT1 Help

It's much, much easier to help diagnose a problem if we know as much as possible about your car. You should make a signature with mods/details.

To delete the EGR valve, you have to take off the pipe going from the passenger side exhaust manifold to the back of the intake. You also need to remove the valve on the back on the intake. Not very difficult, just a pain because it's hard to reach and you can't really see. You will need block off plates if you don't plan to put everything back on. Put RTV on the block off plates if you do install them.

Block off plates:

I had to cut the bolt for the header flange short with my rotary tool because the block off plate I got from SJM was much thinner than the original tube flange. Just some info.
