LT1 Header Selection (Mids or LT's?)
LT1 Header Selection (Mids or LT's?)
I have a friend that's building a 383 LT1 motor and he's looking to get headers. The only issue is that his car is lowered A LOT! Do the Mid headers have better ground clearance? Will he loose much by running the Mid headers over LT's?
Anyone got ground clearance pics of both setups?

Re: LT1 Header Selection (Mids or LT's?)
Yes the mids have better ground clearance. With the 383 dont consider anything other than 1.75 primaries like the Arizona speed & marine or RK sport headers or the engine will be choking.
I dont have a pic of my RK's, but they are the exact same clearance as stock. The only exception might be the 3 bolt flange does stick down at one point maybe an inch. But this can be modified for a lower car. Any mids you can count on being the same spec as stock in terms of clearance.

Re: LT1 Header Selection (Mids or LT's?)
I wouldn't consider my car lowered "A LOT", but it is lowered about 1.25" and I have Pacesetter LTs. My ground clearance is fine for almost all driving including going up driveways and such as long as I remember that I have the lower exhaust it isnt a big deal at all. It would probably be a problem if I was much lower so if him car is lowered more than 1.5", I would probably look for some large tubed mids.

I'm not sure where my buddy got his [I'll ask him sometime] but he got them for $450. I thought he said he called RK Sport directly and purchased them.
