lt1 header question

what id like to know is if i can mount the headers on opposite sides. im planning on droping in a lt1 into a 79 f body, then fabbing up a twin turbo kit. ive seen some mustang guys reverse the headers and mount them forward in a upswept manor. my concern was that the lt1 heads are d shaped exhaust ports, will regular sbc oval ports work? will they restrict flow too much?

Re: lt1 header question

The header flange is symmetrical so it can be mounted in reverse. The ports on my hooker LT headers are rectangular and most headers are not D shaped, but if they are you’re better of having oval or rectangular. Regular sbc headers are more widely available and cheaper.
