LT1 GUrus,, IS this Normal?

Went to check on the roller rockers after 5k miles on a new rebuild. I had the passenger side valve cover off and with the car running had a oil gusher coming out of the #2 rocker with just weeping trickles out of the rest. Pulled the other side and they all flowed the same. Is this normal?

How does it sound; Is there any more noise on that side than the other when running? Looks like that lifter is bleeding down.

No real loud clatter. we do get some piston slap thump thump thump.
could this be from a improper valve adjustment? Replace all lifters or just the one? where do you buy just one lifter?

lifters

Now the question is. Do I need to buy a whole set and replace all or can I buy just one? what is suggested? I have com cams pro mags in there now, If I need to replace all do I go with a different brand?

you can buy singles at parts stores but it would probably be in your best to get a whole new set.

Are they stock or aftermarket lifters? Stock you would probably be O.K. with a single auto parts replacement. Aftermarket, you would want the same.

If you replace one, do them all. It makes no sense to do 1 if they all have the same amount of time on them when 1 failed. Sure enough, in a short time, another will give you problem and you have to do it all over again.

I'm not convinced that 1 lifter is THE problem.

Me neither...

And like others have said- regardless of one or 16..a set of them isn't all that expensive. Might as well replace all of them since you are going to be in there anyway IMHO..

called comp cams hot line after I already pulled the intake and offending lifter. Comp says " thats normal sometimes" when the cup of the lifter and rod hole line up perfect you can get flow like this ......Smack to the forehead...

No worries man, that sounds like corporate CYA talk.. I'd definitely replace the one, if not all of them. That sucker was bleeding down as much oil as it could flow.. unless the flow restrictor in the rocker arm is missing. Check the rocker to see if it looks the same as the others, should have a little metal dowel north of the stud to control oil flow coming from the pushrod..

If you do buy new lifters pick up a set of gm ls7 lifters, they are not expensive for a set; I paid like $100 for my ls7 lifters. Look at the bright side, at least you don't have a ls1 and have to pull the heads to change the lifter.

spent the $18 on a new pro mag from summit..These lifters only have about 5-10k on them..if it happens again I will go the LS7 route and replace them all..I had the intake and lifter off in 1hr...Love these LT1s! THanks for the heads up on the dowel, its there. On adjusting these pro mags is it 1/4 turn or 1/2 turn???

I told you the lifter probably wasn't the problem. Someone else did as well. Comp cams definitely told you it was not a problem.

Then you say if it happens again, you will change all of them. It's gona happen again. They told you it's normal!

I don't get it. You totally ignored what everyone told you. Including the manufacturer.

Why did you even post this?????
