Lt1 Flowmaster Exhaust

Does anyone know where I can get the best deal on a Flowmaster exhaust? Everyone is quoting $350.00 to $450.00. Is there any place that can do better?

Thanks,

I wouldn't even get flowmaster. Sound is good but people say it actually reduces horsepower a little. Go for Magna Flow or something like that.

I'd skip the Slowmaster entirely as well. Check this out. Stainless, better looking, muuuuuch better flowing, and cheaper than the prices you got on that aluminized junk. FYI - I read that the top 3 finishers in the Engine Masters challenge used Magnaflow. Take that for what it's worth.

Thanks again,

I actually have a Random Technology cat-back, but the design is the same. 3" pipes with a straight flow through muffler. Sounds real deep at idle, screams at WOT and zero popping. I had a Slowmaster before I installed this system a few years ago.. never looked back.

Thanks, I'm just itchin to get that crap stock system out of the car. Magna appears to be the right choice but I keep hearing good things about the Loudmouth SLP.

Any experiance with that system, or how it compares to the Magnaflow?

I personally don't much care for the sound of the LM (it is loud though), but plenty of folks on this board have it and like it. If you do a search on it, you'll find quite a bit of info.

Did you buy your sytem form these guys. That's a great price, I was wondering how reliable they were.

I got my cat-back from Thunder Racing. It was $315 or so.. I was recently looking into getting something stainless when a buddy of mine sent me that link. I wound up just going with some new stainless tips from Summit for it instead of a new cat-back.

As for how reliable the company in that link is - no idea. I did not go with them, but they've got a hell of a price. If you're still not comfortable ordering from them, remember you have recourse through your credit card company regardless who you deal with.

One last thing - I've seen these Magaflow systems come up on eBay once in a while for about the same price and sometimes less..

I shared the same opinion as everyone else here about Flowmaster until i had it installed on my LT1 with a gutted cat. My Jaw dropped when i first started it up. That sound cannot be duplicated, and i love the drone around 2000rpm while accellerating.

My local muffler Man installed the Flowmaster and tailpipes for $225. I couldnt wait till they got the shorter 18" chrome angle cut tips in, so i went for the 24" chrome angle cut tips for $60 each as well. They look great!

A catbacks a catbacks a catback.

Even if one catback gives you 1 more horse than a comparible one... it's not like it really matters.

Pick the sound you like and go with it. Unless you are trying to milk that last tenth out on a 1000 horse ride- their is no point in worrying about catbacks on a near stock ride.

BTW-I LOVE my Flowmasters sound.

i pulled the suckmaster american thunder 2 off and put on magnaflow. the magnaflow stainless looked much better and the sound was similar. magnaflow is big on the straight through idea where suckmaster bounces the air all around inside the muffler. IMO you want the most flow you can get and the magnaflow gives it to you. mu cat back was 350 at exhaustprosinc.com
