lt1 exhaust on ls1
My GMMG system was set up for an LS1. I unbolted my stock system from the cat on back, slid the GMMG underneath to line everything up and found myself short about 2' for pipe. I called up GMMG, they said on LT1's you need to keep about 2' of stock pipe after the cat. So my system isn't bolted directly to my cat, there is a small portion of stock piping coming off the cat that bolts to my GMMG which goes all the way back to the bumper.
Soooo, it would appear that LS1's have their cat located slightly further towards the rear of the car. You'd think the rear end would be in the same place in relation to the bumper whether the engine is an LS1/LT1, it is the same car. Only think you might run into is exhaust hanger location. Other than that just lop of a few feet of the hooker system and you should be okay.
Edit: I just remembered - the hooker system uses a special flange that bolts directly to the cat. You may need to re-weld that flange onto the end of however much pipe you cut off in order for it to bolt up to the cat.
