LT1 Exhaust IDEA

where is the best place to mount a electric cutout on a stock lt1 w/ cat. how loud would it be? how loud would it be if i had mac midlength headers? whould it sound good? whats the best brand to go with and cheapest? Is there any problems i can encounter in getting one, gas milage? leaking? electrical problems? OB1 stuff? i'm leaning towards the QTP because that's what everyone else has. any suggestions?

im trying to save money on my whole exhaust set-up. i want an awesome sound, good looks, and performance when i need it....

so my idea was to go with MAC Midlength Headers and y-pipe (louder than stock, better sound all the time, not too loud, some HP, good ground clearence), Electric Cutout (a blast of loudness and power at a flip of the switch), SLP Double Wall tips, (they look good from the back) all welded on the stock exhaust.....any suggestion would be greatly appriciated!!!!!!!!

Re: LT1 Exhaust IDEA

Adding headers don't really make a car any louder they just make them sound smoother. The reason most people think the car is louder is because they ditch the cat at the same time. I think you have a good idea though. At times i wish i had a stock catback with an Ecutout, but the Borla Ecutout serves me well. I would put the Cutout right behind the cat then if you are gonna run the stock I pipe. If you had a 3inch I pipe i would suggest putting it right before the axle.

i dont think i can ditch the cat b/c of emmisions in illinois...so your saying to forget the headers and put the Ecutout right after the cat....

no headers are a must on these cars. I'm just saying adding headers won't really make the car louder they tend to just smooth out the exhaust sound.

Re: LT1 Exhaust IDEA

Headers made my car quieter. Less turbulence makes for a much quieter idle, but louder WOT.
