Lt1 engine removal

Anyone happen to know if it's possible to pull an Lt1 from the top if the heads and intake are removed?

Re: Lt1 engine removal

Since you can do it with the heads and intake on, it would certainly seem you could do it with them off, having even more room to deal with.

Re: Lt1 engine removal

I read you could do it with a swivel on the engine lift to turn it 90°, but i didn't have one. When I took it out last time I dropped engine and Trans one-piece. But thank ya sir

Buy a "Happy Hooker" from https://www.tpis.com/parts/view/67 it makes the job a breeze.

Me and a buddy have removed a blown LT1 from the top of my Camaro and replaced it with another LT1. We did it with the heads on but the intake off to help get that top transmission bolt. The only problem was that the nose had to be removed to make room for our standard engine crane not being long enough. Other then that, it was a little tight to get out but not too bad. Just two guys, two engines, and 5 weekends...but it runs like a charm now!
