lt1 engine
It would really depend on what you were doing with it. If your just replacing the one you already have then it would be too much but If your doing a complete transplant to a differant non efi car, then it's not a bad deal, considering that you can clock 190,000 miles on an lt1 and all the little parts add up big time real fast
78,000 miles 1800$ with trans, from fparts on eBay 
still have it too, runs great lots more power than the stock motor. trans worked great for a while
I hate to say it but I received some questionable advice from a reputable business here
not in open forum but email 
at the time I didn't have the time or funds to build the engine and trans, 209,000 miles, engine smoking and rattling trans slipping, new everything was in order, so I got one to hold me over
now I have 4, one running , one i don't know anything about in the 94 bird, original one and one out of a 95 with a lose rod, that's the one Iv torn into

thanks for all the comments...Im just wanting to buy one to build because i dont have another vehicle and to take mine out and get parts and portwork done and a tune...i couldnt be out of a vehicle for that long
