Lt1 distributor

I have a block from a 96 camaro LT1, and i am going to use optispark , when i looked under the intake, theres a hole where a normal hei distributor would usually go , at least it seemed.. am i able to use a regular distributor ?? Or should i just stick with my Optispark - (ive yet to buy my opti)

Thanks.

You can drill the manifold to accept a normal SBC distributor, but since the back of the motor sits beneath the firewall on an f body, it's best to stick with the Optispark.

If you plan on running the stock computer you need to keep the optispark. The PCM won't supply fuel unless it sees the low res pulse from the opti.
