LT1 dead.

HI,
I installed a new opti from these guys last week.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93...Q5fAccessories
And today I decided to take the car out for a drive; I went wot for the first time and the car would ping just a little above 5000rpm. So I thought maybe it was not a ping so I went wot again and this time it missed at 4500 and ping above 5000rpm. The third time I went wot the car missed then lost all power at 6000rpm and was dead. The car will not start now. I think the opti might have been bad from the start I had a slight miss at Idle but it cleared up at part throttle. I am leaning towards the cheap opti and I will know for sure tomorrow. My question is should I swap for a new cheap opti because it has a 1yr warranty or should I buy a dynaspark opti? Is the dynaspark a lot better than a stock opti build? The car seems to be eating opti's, I had a opti from ThePartsLadi on ebay and that opti only lasted two months before the rotor blew apart. Now I went and bought this cheap opti because I screwed up my warranty from thepartsladi and I think the car just ate this cheap opti. Will a dynaspark hold up a lot better than a stock gm opti? The car is a full bolton hot cam car with msd spark plug wires.

You need to get a GM/Delphi opti. From what I understand all the other opti's have a problem with the electronics that are inside the unit and are inferior to a GM opti.

I know everybody says the GM opti is the best but this is like what happened to my GM opti I bought from ThePartsLadi on ebay. And I suspect the same thing happened to my cheap $100 opti. Maybe the opti I got from thepartsladi was not a GM opti; it had a black cap on it not a brown one like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AC...2/?image=large

I just did a quick search and came up with this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93...%3A1|72%3A1171

This is what you want, unless you have a '95 or newer of course, but you haven't told us what year yours is.
And these Chandler Motor Sports you bought yours from have this in their auction Note - AC Delco does not manufacture these items anymore, if someone says its made by AC Delco they're lying to you. Please don't buy from these idiots. This is true, they are made by Delphi, have been for quite a while now. $90.00 for a "new" opti, just like most things, you get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents.

AC Delco and Delphi are the same people. Delco was the old GM division which was spun off so it could acheive bankruptcy years before the parent did.

I will be ordering one from thepartsladi, but since the rotors are blowing apart I decided to drill out the rotor and replace the plastic hold downs with little nuts and bolts. I did this to one of my old rotors today, and it looks and feels much stronger. The car is a 1996 so I will need the vented opti.

You might want to check the length of the dowel pin. If its too long, it may be forcing the rotor forward, into the cap, and breaking it.
