THe LT1 is dead............
Well, long story short, my brother was driving my car and he totalled it. The engine, and tranny are fine. It is totalled because of bodywork. The insurance company would only give me 6,000 for it but i have put so much into it i cant bear to let it go for that. So heres what im thinking. I take the engine out and put it in another 4th gen or maybe a 1st gen? What do yall think? The engine runs great. Its only got 68,000 miles on it and its got a hotcam kit in it so its worth saving. Maybe i could find a really high miles LT1 and swap the motor out?? Tell me what you think you guys, i am really upset and i want to get back behind the wheel of a hotrod as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

If you really want to keep the car find another high mile LT1 or rolling chassis and drop your motor in it. There are a few high mile 94 firebirds in my area around 4000 miles. The swap in a first gen sounds like too much work since i am lazy person
maybe ask the first gen forum? Since the motor is out you have to do a stroker
...
How did your bro wreck it? I would be pretty mad if my sister did that ( i dont have a brother)

We were at a party, i was drunk and he didnt drink so he decided to drive home. He took a corner too fast out in the country and we hit a couple of fence posts and skimmed off a tree. Needless to say i am pretty pissed at him but what can you do. To quote fast and the furious.................." he owes me a 12 second car". I have a really good guy who does good engine work and he said he will put my engine in whatever car i send to him so i just have to pick a car now. I was thinking about maybe a C4? That would be cool. Didnt some of them come with LT1's, so it should drop right in. Thanks for the advice. Keep it coming guys............

It happened last night man. It really sucks. That car is my baby and now its all fu**** up. At least i still have the motor and tranny, and im still alive.......... I got in 2 races yesterday and won both of them, that was it going out with a bang i guess. I really want to find a 97 with a lot of miles on it so i can take out the engine and chunk it. I want a 97 because its got the new interior and i can run an offroad pipe. I guess i have to wait and find one now......................

I have heard that the vette will be cheaper to insure because they are wrecked less. That makes sense because the average vette driver is quite a bit older than the average f-body driver. Also they are more likey to be garaged and therefore less likely to be stolen.

BTW, sorry to hear about your wreck. But that's great that the "life" of your car is still with you and can be put into something new. Good luck.
Actually, Corvette insurance is cheaper than F-Body insurance for this major reason:
Look at the age/gender brackets. Who does the F-Body appeal to and who can afford it? Young, males. Females too, but they don't count since they practically don't have to pay insurance!!

Corvette -- Mid life crisis waaaay more mature people who don't tend to hot rod, street race, and "act a fool"!!!
It may not be that much cheaper, but still cheaper than an F-Body.
