LT1 Cold Air Kits

Are they really worth the money, and are they easy to install? What one is best, Moroso, K&N, etc. What kind of results have you all had?

I have Moroso and it's easy to install. Power gains for any cold air kit (other than the G2) are almost exactly the same.

Some people have had issues with the K&N ones, I guess the filter may fall off, and of course then it gets crushed by the driver's side tires...

The SLP and Arizona Speed & Marine ones are metal if that makes any difference. When you get them you can paint them any color you want with minimal prep work. I have seen a painted Moroso CAI in a magazine, but that's more difficult to do.

They're all about the same, so just get whatever is cheapest or looks the best to you. This is one of those things that it's hard to go wrong with.

I've got a K&N and its awesome, holds its own and is easy to clean. But i agree with GreenDemon, they're all pretty much the same.

I have no experience with anything else, so basically just do what GreenDemon said and check them out for yourself.

I just got the SLP one, and I like it really well. Definitely a noticeable power gain (I did mine the same time as a catback though), and it wasn't too hard to install, it just took a little muscle. I think it looks great in the engine bay as well.

As was said above, they're all about equal, as long as you don't buy the G2 CAI.

the thing i hate about my slp is that when you take it off or put it back in its really damn hard to do without scratching the paint or having the filters fall off... and when you do need to replace the filters (because they will eventually become mangled and whatnot) theyre pretty pricey considering you have to buy two.

I had the K&N and have seen a Moroso. The Moroso was cheaper and did the exact same thing, not that I had any complaints with the K&N. I would recommend the Moroso or whatever the cheapest one you can find is.

Cool

From my experience with Moroso, SLP and AS&M. The AS&M is the easiest to install; and, more importantly, easiest to maintain for access to filter.
