Lt1 Camaro A4 times

In the near future I'm going to pick up a 93-97 Z28 with the Auto trans so my wife can drive it. I've had so many fast cars in my life but caught the bug again recently.

My question is, what kind of times can I expect out of an Auto LT1 bone stock?

Will it be faster than my 87 GN was bone stock?

I plan on doing all the bolt ons and then a supercharger. My bro had all the bolt ons and an ATI procharger on his 93 A4 but only managed a 13.2@107.
I'm hoping for faster than a 14.5 stock and high 11's modified.

Anyone have a high 11 second Lt1 and stil drive to work everyday problem free.

Thanks for any insight.

Dan

Stock for stock it will not be faster. The grand nationals i believe run like a 13.3 stock where the camaros (i believe, do not quote me) run like a 14.7 stock or something like that. I also believe (once again, do not quoet me) that the automatic camaro's have like 2.73 gears.
I believe high 11's modified is possible out of a LT1. I have a friend w/ a LS1 that is pushing 500RWHP and drives it daily.

If i were you, i'd go
Intake, headers, exhaust, shift kit, torque converter, gears, heads, cam

Re: Lt1 Camaro A4 times

a stock lt1 in good running order should be a low low 14/high high 13 second car...changes depending on tranny/gears/weather/driver blah blah, but should be somewhere around there

yes and no, It would have to be pretty turdy to be in good mechanical condition and only run a 14.7, the autos come with either 2.73s or 3.23s and in my experience the 2.73 cars are usually freaks bone stock(due to gearing and where is crosses the 1/4 mark) expect a LOW 14 or possibly 13.99 with 100% conidition and maybe a CAI at the least.

I just ran my 95 z for the first time last weekend. I have some light mods which are listed in my sig. I ran a 14.41 and had really crappy traction through first gear on street tires. On top of that it was 92 degrees with near 100% humidity.

Re: Lt1 Camaro A4 times

lil spinning... 2.2 60'
6788 DA (that is like on to of a mountain type of DA...)
14.97 (beating the brand new 06 Mustang GTs)
at 91.48 mph

Bone stock. At a perfect sea level DA (0) that is a 13.5ish

Grand Nationals Stock are in the same AREA...

How mcuh you want to spend to get those 11's? Give me a budget and I will tell you how to get there.
Its not as easy as the GNs because we dont have a turbo we can just up the boost on.

You can have an 11 second "daily driver" using the stock longblock, bolt ons, and cam. Of course, you will need gears and stall and sticky tires. I delivered pizzas in mine every once in a while. I can't do that now with the new motor though.

Re: Lt1 Camaro A4 times

I'd spend up to 10,000. My friend just got Cartek Stage 2 package on his 97 Automatic Corvette. I want to be able to beat him. He should have 440WHP.My ideas are:

SLP Cold Air Intake
BBK 58mm Throttle Body
SLP 1 3/4 Headers
SLP Loudmouth Exhaust
BF Goodrich Drag Radials
Best Used Supercharger I can find when I'm ready to buy.

I also plan to try and take weight off.

I'm sure there are parts that would make more power than what I chose.
If there is anything I missed or needs replacement let me know what you think.

Thanks

Ya don't need a big blower as 5 to 7lbs is all the stock bottom end will take for very long.

weight and converter will help tremendous. along with gears, then make it have more power.

Re: Lt1 Camaro A4 times

Bone stock ran 9.3xx cutting 2.3XX 60 foot. 1/8th

Headers, and catback, and lcas (same track with same tires) = 8.7-8.8 consistently cutting 2.0 60 foot.

cai, headers, catback, lcas, ewp, 100 shot, and nitto 450's = 8.29 with cutting a 1.9 60 foot

No times with cam, 1.6 rr, nitto 555's, and 100 shot yet

Re: Lt1 Camaro A4 times

so my stock 93 with auto running 9.05@79mph 2.05 60ft in the 1/8mi isn't too shabby then? that was also 90+ degrees and 90+% humidity, but it was on M/T sportsman Pro 26x10.5's...it didn't spin, which might actually be hurting it somewhat, imo. it kind of takes it awhile to get moving with a stock convertor and 3.23 gears.
