Looking to buy an LT1 Camaro

Hey guys I'm new here and I have several questions for yall. I just sold my daily driver and I'm looking to get an LT1 camaro or trans am to play around with as a daily driver. What kind of gas mileage do these suckers get? I found a nice fully loaded 94 here in my town with a newly rebuilt auto tranny and it also has leather interior. The car is in almost perfect condition but it has a lot of miles on the motor. If i'm not mistaken it has 150k+ on the motor. How long will it last before the motor goes boom? Any idea on what this car would be worth? I know that I will need to look into a rebuild pretty soon if I got it but I'm not sure how costly that will be either. Are these cars real high maintenance? I know it sounds like im asking a million questions but I really need to know before I get myself into something I have no idea about. Thanks for your time guys.

I think the first question should be how much are you willing to spend, maybe a car with less miles even though it was rebuilt and all. I dont drive much since Im only 17 and usually I go out with my friends so I dont need to drive. Ive gone 3 weeks on one tank of gas, but obviously I wasnt driving much then. Id say I get between 145-160 miles out of my tanks maybe more I usually fill up before I get to a 1/4 tank. Hopes this helps some.

I've gone about 230 in my '95 Z28. It's actually getting about 17/25 cause the previous owner before I bought it just replaced all the plugs and ****. I love my car. LoL.

The mileage depends on how you drive. I get anywhere from 200 miles/tank getting on it to 300 if I drive conservatively.

So what is the average in mpg that you guys get? I don't even know how many gallons the stock tank holds. What would a 94 fully loaded camaro with 150k on the motor and a newly rebuilt tranny be worth? I will probably get it rebuilt but not telling how much that will cost me. Are there any mods to do to the LT1 that actually IMPROVE gas mileage? How many miles could be put on that motor before everything starts to totally wear out?

My tank is 15.5 gallons. But, my fuel gauge is ****ed up. So, I fill up a little after 200 miles. About 20 bucks for me.

Anybody have an idea of how much a 94 z28 with 150K on the motor and a newly rebuilt tranny is worth? It is fully loaded with leather, t-tops, etc. I'm also wondering how long until the motor kicks the bucket and if the camaros are high maintenance. Any words to help out?

You'll either get a car that will have little or no maintainance issues or one that stays broken down all the time. Luck of the draw. If it's an auto look for 23-24mpg on the interstate, 17-18 around town if you keep your foot out of it. I'd say if the car is in overall good shape it's worth $4500. These motors are pretty tough, if well taken care of and not modded out the *** I don't think 180k miles is that unreasonable.

167,000 miles with heads and cam and many mods. It all depends on maintenance

101k and still runs like 10k. Most of those miles were stock miles. I didn't mod it until it had 94k on it....but it's not showing any signs of wearing out, but then again, it's not 150k, and I've taken care of it, regular oil changes, always. But generally, if the engine has been somewhat taken care of, it will last a good while, probably 200k or even more if you're lucky.

When it comes time for a rebuild what exactly needs to be done? Do I need to pull the motor and have the block machined and replace everything or can I actually just replace the heads and the top half of the engine?

Where can I find some of the standard bolt ons that can be transferred to another motor easily? I know I'll start out with exhaust but I don't know what else to go or where.

Thanks a lot for all the replies guys. I reallty do appreciate it. Hopefully Tuesday I can be the proud new owner of this Z28.
