LT1 in a 1967

Thinking about using my 93 as a donor car for the drivetrain but, any advice for a distributor? the car has a Dynaspark that's brand new and I think there is a way to use that setup.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

As long as you are using an LT1-style harness (modified original or aftermarket such as S&P, Speartech, Howell, Painless etc), you can use whatever type Opti you want.

I'm also planing on using a carb, does GM make an intake for that? Anybody out there that has done this? I'm not convinced that I should strip the 93 and would like some reassuring words.

Yes, GM makes an intake it is NAL-24502592 at summit racing and is 259.88. I have done the swap and used a DEI distributor, GM intake with a Street Avenger 770 carb on it. I ended up going back to FI and if I were you I would just stick with the FI. There is no reason to swap in an LT1 if you are just going to carb it. May as well go with a traditional small block if this is what you want. It is not that difficult to wire up and get running. JMO.

I was thinking the same thing, keep it simple but I have a 93 donor car to take the parts from. Was the FI wiring hard to figure out?

Figuring out the wiring definately takes some time. I subscribed to alldata for a year and got the wiring diagrams, locations and the such. Leave the wiring intact on the motor and disconnect the entire firewall bulkhead connectors and fiqure it out from there. A ton of the wires are not needed and only a few end up leaving the motor. The main concerns are the fuel pump, electric fans, speedometer, driveshaft and rear crossmember.
I've built 327s and 350s but none of them will touch the LT1 with FI. Plus it gets close to 25 MPG on the highway.

The wiring is simple. The best thing to do is buy a GM or Helms manual for the year of car you have. Since the motor is from a 93, just get that one. Do not use a chiltons or something like that. Everything you need is in the Helms manual. As for the wiring stage of my swap I had to put 2 harnesses together, because at the time no one made a harness like they do today. If you have questions as to what some wires go to check out thirdgen.org they have a great wiring breakdown for the LT1. Let me know if you have other questions.
