LT1= in need of a diet plan

As everyone is aware our F-Bodys are heaving SOB's. I am searching for ways to make mine tip the scales at under 3300 LBS without me in it. Last time the car was weighed it came in at 3440 LBS so im looking to shed 141 LBS. Now since that weigh in my car has had the following done to it:

BMR Boxed Subframe Connectors,BMR Tubular LCA's w/ Relocating Brackets, Drag Air Bag on the R/R, Flowmaster Y-Pipe and S-Pipe and moved up to 3" exhaust from the headers to the cut-out.

Now I did however get rid of my 18" wheels and tires. I moved to Weld Draglights with Skinnies up front and E.T. Streets in the rear. The difference in this is like night and day. I believe my mods I did to me losing those heavy tires about canceled each other out. So I still should be around 3440 =/- LBS.

So where do I lose 141 LBS at? Floor mats, sway bar, spare tire and jack have been long gone. I have already changed to an Aluminum driveshaft.

I do not want to jepordize any saftey items and this is to still be a daily driver.

If I remove the rear seats and seatbelts along with the lether front seats I will drop 108 LBS. Now of course I will need to put at least 1 seat but would like 2 seats back in front. Anyone have any recomendations? Would like 2 seats combined to weigh no more than 58 LBS.

Still need 100 LBS. off!

Back seats weigh 29 LBS and the seat belts and rectractors weigh another 5lbs. Also remove the floor mats and your at 1.8 pounds. 35.8 LBS loss after removing the rear seating.

You can get racing seats like the Corbeau Forza that weigh around 16# each. Then you will need brackets to hold them to the floor. The adjustable brackets add 10# per seat. If you can live with a fixed seat mount, you can keep the bracket weight down to 2#.

The rear seat area is fully carpeted, except for the holes where the seat belt bolts go through, and a rectangular cutout about 2" x 8" where each seat cushion bolts down. I just leave the floor mats over the cutouts for street use, remove the mats at the track:

No rear seat.....

Other things to think about deleting would be the AIR pump and cruise control. A light weight hood will shed a few #.

Problem with a lot of the high performance add-ons like suspension, torque arm, trannies, SFC's, roll-bars is that they add weight like crazy. Last time I weighed my Formula, it was 3,760# with me (190#) in it. And that is a car with no A/C, no rear seat, Weld Pro-Stars/skinnies/QTP's. Roll bar, TH400, Gear Vendor, chrome moly driveshaft, Spohn TA are all weight adders.

My 2K3 weight reduction:

BMR tubular upper a-arm (mild steel)
BMR tubular lower a-arm (mild steel)
BMR tubular k-member(mild steel)
Bogart D-10s (8# front, 13# rear w/o tires)
TH400
smaller diameter converter
use smaller battery & move to rear
true duals(goodbye catback section!!)
VFN 'glass hood
!front hood struts
!rear hood struts
!ABS
!EGR
!AIR
!power steering
!A/C & condensor
!front crash support(replaced w/ intercooler)
!rear seats & belts
!rear sound deadening mat(10# believe it or not!!)
!front sway bar & links
!wiper resevoir

I also try to keep my fuel level around 1/2 tank if I go out to the track or street racing. You can always fill up afterwards.

Of course, a lot of this is offset by the roll bar going in, but it's a give and take situation.

EDIT: I'm also thinking about tossing the airbags. Billingsley Racing has a replacement steering wheel center for these cars for those of us who don't want the pillows popping if there's an accident.
