Re: LT Headers...give me some good ones

The only other two that I see used regularly are Dyno tech, and Pacesetter.
Each will need a y-pipe, the hooker and Jetthott have a few companies that make pretty well bolt in y pipes (a little tweaing and welding needed). Pace setter themselves make a y for their headers, I have no experience with it.
The Dyno tech will need the collectors bought for it and a custom Y made to fit to your cat-back.

I myself have experience with hookers , one set bought from hooker the other bought from jet-hott. I am presently using the Mufflex Y and I reccomend it. I used the stainless works Y and it was not very good fit, I had to rotate the collectors on the y to mate up with the headers and then I had to ovate the driverside pipe to clear the tranny crossmember (even after grinding off the flange on the crossmember).

The mufflex fit in with a 4 inch to 3 inch adapter for the cat-back and some grinding on the crossmember (drivers side). Custom can be made cheaper and fit better than any I have seen, but most custom Ys I have seen restrict flow pretty good.

Re: LT Headers...give me some good ones

I have JetHot LT's and really like them. I would go with a custom y-pipe, I am less than pleased with the "fit" of my Hooker y-pipe. They tried to make it tight to the body to eliminate ground clearance issues but it causes fit issues.

Just my .02.... good luck

I don't think I totally agree with you. I see probably 60-70% of people with jet hot's. They are modeled after the hookers, but with some design improvements. They have thicker flanges, and primarys. Also they are cheaper, and flow exactly the same. You can get them for just over 500 shipped. They also come coated and with 02 bungs, which you have to pay extra for on the hookers.

As for the y pipe, jet hot does not make one, they merely sell the hooker y pipe coated for 250. And I have no fitment problems, and would prefer the ground clearance any day. I already scrape as it is on speed bumps.

EDIT: The hooker y pipe doesn't need welding, it comes with clamps, though welding is suggested.

I have a set of coated FLP's minus the y-pipe for sale. I'll let them go cheap.

Re: LT Headers...give me some good ones

I'm kinda confused on what you dissagree on with me, please elaborate.

I didnt mention the Jett-hot sold Y-pipe because I really didnt know much about it, the others I have seen. And they all needed some tweaking etc to fit right in. The Jett hott hookers I have are hookers sold by jett hott that have the O2 bungs in them and jett hott coating, I have also bought a set from hooker and the ones I have are exactly identical. The purchase was made about 3 years ago so the newer ones probably have the improvements you speak of.

You're confusing me. Do you have the hookers that are coated by Jet Hot?

Re: LT Headers...give me some good ones

SLP doesnt make long tubed headers for LT1s....plus u wouldnt want them any ways ...they have way to many complaints about leaks
go here http://www.rit.edu/~jar5968/headers/headers.html .....tells u prices, reviews and places to buy all headers fro f-bods, also gives good info on things to buy with the headers to make ur instal a ONE TIME install

Don't forget TPIS, they have great plug access and excellent ground clearance. Easy to install too, I did everything from the top down. I would go with the custom y-pipe though. A little expensive but it seems like a lot of people have problems when installing jet-hots.

Re: LT Headers...give me some good ones

I have Jet Hot coated Hooker LTs, I have not had any problems with them they have been great but if I were to do it again I would purchase the Jet Hot Headers the flanges are beefier and for some reason they tuck up next to the car better but my worn motor mounts could be a large part of why mine don,t tuck up good.
