does the lt-4 starter bolt right in a camaro.is there anything i need to change.

 

Mine bolted right in. It's a heck of a lot smaller than the stock LT1 starter is.

 

its just a 96 vette gs starter right.

They are said to hit some headers, SLP 1 3/4 mid's seem to be one of the sets that has interferance issues.

That's interesting about clearance issues- I have a set of SLP mids in the garage I'll mock up to see if they hit. There are no issues with my new Hooker LT's.

Is it really that much smaller? The starter on my camaro is origional ( I think, I pieced together a wrecked 95 that was totaled in 96, and gathered random parts from random cars until 2002 ) But its only about 10 inches long,( Maybe not even ) its a pretty small started to begin with. It wiehgs about 15 20 lbs I think ? I forget

 

its sounds coooooool!!!!!!! mine was $150. bolts right on

 

My stock starter weighed 8.5 lbs.

My replacement starter which was the smallest one SummitRacing sells (which is super small) weighed 6.5 lbs.

Just thought I would add....

 

It fits hooker LT, and pacesetter LT. It will NOT fit FLP (dynatech) longtubes without seriously smashing a primary tube.

Its shorter but i think a little fatter if I remember correctly.

 

Canton Racer ~ I was going to say that I thought the stock one was under 10 lbs, but it just didnt sound right for some reason ... Regardless, the stock LT1 starter is pretty small to begin with.

Just curious, but you guys who all swapped to the LT4 starter, you only swapped once your stocker died right? I couldnt see anyone doing it for weight reduction. What are you going to loose? 3 lbs ? for 150$

 

I did it because my stocker died, it was chepaer than stocker, and higher torque. I turned in my lt1 starter as the core, no one cares.
