LT-1 Starting problem

My car will start with no problems when it is cold. The car will run for about 4 miles then die. I can let the car cool down and it will start again, drive a few miles then die again. When the car won't start I notice I get no spark from the coil to the coil wire. I have replaced the opti(it was definitely bad), the icm, the coil, the wires are fairly new,TPS is fairly new, and the ignition switch is fairly new also. I have replaced fuses, switched around relays, I have scanned the computer(no codes or SES light). Other issues that may be related, sometimes when I first start the car nothing happens(no buzzing , no lights, etc), but then I switch key off , turn it on again and car starts(has been doing this awhile), My gauge lights were blowing fuses, now I have no lights on the gauges at all(won't even blow a fuse?). When car runs, it runs strong with no problems. Problem seems to be heat related?? Any help would be appreciated?

Check the plugs on the ignition switch, Have seen a lot of them burn switches out and get hot and lose contact in the plug itself. May be worth swapping the icm again to make sure its not faulty or was it doing this before the icm? Not sure on your fuse blowing. It may be something in the computer, but I dont see it really blowing gauge fuses. Check your fuseable links on the passenger side at the little junction distribution thing that your battery cable runs to.

I'll check plug and fueable links. This problem was going on before changing ICM.

Re: LT-1 Starting problem

What you want to do when you don't have spark is check the ignition components for the presence of voltage.

Then check for the presence of the IC signal from the PCM to the ICM.

Re: LT-1 Starting problem

Well, after many months of sitting, I finally replaced the fuel pump with a Walbro 340. Started car and ran it for 10 miles, stop and started car several times,no problems so far. So, I guess I had a bad fuel pump. I had read in a different post that a bad fuel pump could give bad readings to the computer and could cause the computer to quit giving spark to the coil?

The computer or PCM has no way of monitoring either the fuel pump actually running or fuel pressure. The only remote connection it has is monitoring the output line to the fuel pump relay for a broken connection. That's it.

Well, I am sure I will find out this week, weather this fixed my problem or not, but something is making my coil work or not? As of this time the only that has changed is the fuel pump.
