LT-1 Rebiuld, what should I buy?
LT-1 Rebuild, what/where should I buy?
Unfortunately forced into a rebuild before I was ready. I need info on who makes the best parts, and what "light" mods I should do while the engine is out. Don't have access to programming yet though, can I change the cam without programming - what are my limits?
Bearings? - which are best (rod/main)
Rod/Head Bolts - ARP?
Re-ring kit?
Cam?
Roller rockers? worth it?
Timing gears./chains
Ignition - wires/coil etc
Where's best place to buy?

Re: LT-1 Rebiuld, what should I buy?
As far as programming goes.. there are plenty of mail order options that will do just fine. PCMforless, madz28.. etc... don't skimp on programming.
Why the rebuild? Spun bearing?
Why the rebuild? Spun bearing?

Bearings are real rough, doesn't look like any other damage. Taking to shop tomorrow for inspection. Any ideas on what I should be looking for?

well, if you want performance and a niiiice HP increase, this is what i personally would do, i dont have time or money to do it at the time, it will come with all of what you should need for bottom end and even a new cam.

As far as your bearings being rough, the engine has been run, the protective coatings will start to wear off and whatnot, its wear from usage, this kit would include a new crank anyways so if thats where you went, it wouldnt be anything to worry about, if your going to keep your stock crank, visibly observe it, and if the journals APPEAR fine, take your fingure nail and run it across the journal, if you can feel any cuts in the journal and dont have money or the desire for machining, take about a 400 grit sand paper sheet, cut it into a strand, and evenly cover the journal with it, but be careful not to sand too long in one spot, this should do fine for you seeing as the crank is solid steel and is heat forged, you'll be removind the debrit on the journal moreso than any of that steel.
