LT-1 against a 700-R4

when my friend and i go to put the lt-1 into his car, its going to be up against a 700R4... what can i do for the tv cable.. since the car the engine came out either had a manual or a 4L60E so it dosent have a place for where the TV cable can go... what do we do about this... and i know for these transmissions we are supposed to have 12v running down to it for the torque converter lock up.. when my friend and i go to put this in the car, what will we do about this?

thanks for the help

Find a cable bracket for a 1993 Camaro with an auto. Mine is a 93 and it came with a 700r4/4l60 in it, but this is the only year of a LT1 Camaro that has a place on the bracket for the TV cable.

I have an `87 700R4 hooked up to my `95 camaro LT1. Works great thanks to the work of Lokar. http://www.lokar.com/

There's three parts to this mixture all from lokar.

Kickdown cable:

the braket that attaches to the intake:

You may need to get the lokar universal throttle cable like I did. Their braket is ofcourse specifically made to use both the lokar TV and throttle cables. They look good being braided stainless and cnc'd aluminum. Well constructed stuff. I have a bunch of lokar on my engine just because of it's simplicity. It's a pain in the *** looking for a dipstick that doesn't interfere with headers and doesn't need to be bent.

If you dont want to go down the $$ route, i suggest getting a universal TV cable from autozone. Done. they're like $20 and are easy to modify to fit the stock braket.

forgot a bit about the torque converter lockup. You're going to need a seperate lockup management system. Painless offers a kit, TCI offers a kit, accel offers a kit. All for over $110.

Check out summitracing.com for "lockup"

damn, even advanced adapters is offering a lockup bypass kit. Very cool.

A few notes before you decide on the system. There are many different ways to have the lockup enabled on the 700r4. Some interface with your ECM and know the TPS value to enable the lockup. The tranny is smart so the lockup will only happen in 4th gear (OD). This is VERY important in the 700r4 because if you're in OD and the torque converter doesn't lock and you're in that gear for a while it will overheat and I'd hate to say what happens next.

This brings me on to my ghetto fixes.
If you're interested, otherwise I'd suggest getting a kit specifically for manual lockup.
1st; never use OD. done. you wont need to worry about the lockup.
2nd; all you need to do is supply power to the right terminal on the 4post plug for the 700r4. I'll try and dig up a diagram and a tech if you're interested. But basically put a switch with a relay and you have to manually turn on the lockup when you're in OD. Just can forget.
