This isn't a "mod".. this isn't, and can't be done. Port locations for starters..

In case you're wondering why...

Bottoms of each:

LS1

LT1

I'm pretty sure he's talking about a LS1 lid and not the actual "intake". There's a lot of confusion between the two.

Short answer: Not worth it for performance.

lol.. good call, you're most likely right on that!

I've just heard people ask it the other way before too.. doh!

I'd say it's worth it on a max effort car. I would do it if I had a hood where it would fit w/o cutting up the body.

If I were to get the Ultra Z hood and it would fit, and if I found an entire setup cheap, then I'd do it. I've heard it does help some on top end, but it shouldn't be a first mod by any means.

In my case, it would have helped when I was trying to figure out a place to mount my Mallory ignition box. If I had a lid setup on my car, that would clean up the whole right side of the car where the normal intake would run. Perfect spot for an ignition box. There may be some small gains involved, but not enough to justify the expense. I would do it just for the added "coolness" factor.

If we are indeed talking about the intake and not the manifold, then I would do it if I had a hood to fit over it such as the ultraZ hood.

so there has been people making more power with the lid than a cai?

imo, its a retarded idea to buy a lid and then have to cut a hole in your hood or buy a hood for it. why not just buy the cai which already fits the car and doesnt make any less power??

and why is it in this day and age....
stall = torque converter
intake = air intake pipe
lol....

if you have a stock hood, then yes a cai would work just fine. If you already have, or want to buy a new hood for looks, then I say go for a lid set up. It would clean up that side of the engine a lot more.
