Lsa ?? On A Xe230/236 ANYONE WITH THIS CAM PLEASE HELP112lsa Or 114 Lsa

I am getting ready to order a c.c.XE230/236 cam. However i have a few questions before i do.I am an a4 car with 2800 stall. I was told by a few people that have a good deal of experiance with LT1`s.and are trying to get me to order the cam on a 114LSA. Not the 112LSA.The reason behind this is that by doing this it will bring my peak HP & TQ at a lower point in the rpm band. So with my stock bottom end. I won`t have to rev it as high to achive my peak HP and TQ points.I was also told that this might also help with the funny smell issues like some talk about. Basicly it would have a little better idle once i got it tuned. As i do still want to take this car on road trips and daily drive at times. Not just for track use if you know what i am trying to say. So please someone tell me the up`s or down`s with going with a 114LSA over a 112LSA with this cam. A i am totally lost when it comes to this. If anyone in here has this cam on a 114LSA please tell me everything about it what your dyno`s were? Where your peak HP & TQ came at in the rpm band? How are the idle issues? Thanks For Your Time. Mike...

yea, 114 lowers emissions, lowers powerband (or keeps it the same really), and has no real lope to it, and tends to be less "peaky" on the dyno charts
most tend to go with this for a nitrous application because it's better to have less overlap (meaning no nitrous gets sent out exhaust before it's been used)

112 increases emissions a little, little higher powerband, a little bit of lope, and gets just a TAD peakier on the charts
better for N/A applications because it makes more horsepower, yet can be tuned for emissions

you could always get a custom grind and do a 113 lsa, best of both worlds

forgot to mention
the 114 is better for idle, less cam surge, and all around better driveability i think
112 got a little smell, tiny more cam surge, not too bad of driveability from what i hear

I would go with the 112 for an NA app and a 114 for a power adder app.

Thanks thats good info there. How about vacuum anyone using this cam have any issues there mostly wanting to know about you all that have A4`s. I do already have a 2800 stall. So i should have no real issues with that. Just woundering about if i will need a extra vac. container. Thanks For Yor Time. Mike.

Re: Lsa ?? On A Xe230/236 Which Would Be Best For Me 112lsa Or 114 Lsa

The 114 is going to have better power/torque right off idle but once you get into the mid-range the 112 is going to beat up on the 114. The 114 may have similar peak power, but it will be down on power nearly everywhere else compared to the 112 so overall the car will be slower even if the peak numbers aren't that dramatically different. This is all assuming that you are running NA. Don't fall into the common misconception that narrower LSA just pushes the powerband up in the RPMs. It's not true.

That is what i am wondering just how much of a differance there really is between the two.To me it is begining to sound like the 114LSA on this cam may not be a bad idea for the all around driving that i like to do. With a trip to the track every now and then.Cut down on the smell issues that people talk about. Also a little better idle onced tuned. Keep the info comming please.I want to know all i can on this before i order. All input welcome. Thanks For Your Time. Mike...
