I'm really going to stir things up by using the stock crank, a set of scat rods and forged Speed Pro pistons, ballance it, and reve the sh*t out of it, to get peak power out of the 847. I'm also going to use my stock Opti a Lt4 extreme duty timing set, LS7 lifters, SA CC Pro Mags, Pac 918 springs shimmed properly and measured push rods. All the stuff in my sig. And give it 150 shot when ever i feel someone's getting to close. I've done ALOT worse to a regular SBC and they never flew apart..... In fact this will be my first set of after market rods to beat on.
I post a real-life experience regarding my setup, did you miss that? Oh wait - I posted it on a forum so it can't be true.

And after all that you're still going to use self-aligning rockers?

Sounds like you already made up your mind before I even posted. Oh well.

I guess that was a bit much. But you know as well as I do you have to sift through the sh*t on line to get the truth. I appreciate what your saying, and I'm sure your setup works really well , I was not sh*ting on you or your car.

So, I will have to change the RR, but the reason for this post was not about the cam I'm using, but about what I should use for lifters. Comp R's , LS7's or something else that will work well and wont blow my budget.

LS7s will work just fine. They are now the OEM replacement lifters also.

[QUOTE=WS6T3RROR;6505601]No it will bind if you run plates with sa rockers. Having said that there is nothing really wrong with sa rockers as long as valve control is up to par. In fact to a point its actually more stable. There is however some trade off for durability.

Great, how do i get good valve control, and what are the trade off's?

The LS7s are a cheap replacement so everyone seems to say you "have to have them" but in reality they have not been shown to be any better than what came stock in your car.

It amazes me how people "save" money buying mediocre parts and then waste it on unnecessary parts all in the same build.

If your signature is accurate I would reuse the 503 over the 847 and put the savings towards a bigger TB, suspension work.
Dewayne I take it your not using the LS7 lifters recommended by AI for your 200cc setup? I am and shifting the AI baby cam at almost 7K. Running mid 11's N/A with them and 10's on the jug. And still haven't taken the car to the track in this cooler weather. My best N/A was at 82 degrees in BG

The LS7s are a quality inexpensive replacement.

If you have the cash to do the rest of the job right AND still buy them so you can use "new" parts GREAT.

The problem I see is guys buying a LOT of other parts because they are "cheap" and then buying the LS7 lifters in addition when that $100 could have been better spent elsewhere and just reused the stock lifters which will also work fine to 7000rpm.
