okay, but do both mass air sensors use the same plugs and same type of communication to ecm. If the only difference is the cal tables does that mean it should'nt be a problem to reprogram ecm to compensate.

How many grams of air/sec does these MAFs max out at? Higher than the stock LT1 one?

I put the flow tables up a while ago on carprogrammer for the LS6 MAF, there are a couple of issues to address:

1. The LS6 maf is designed for a straight shot system, any bends in the system (which most f-bodies have) will throw the airflow to one side more than the other, the lack of a mesh screen to increase laminar flow makes this even worse.

2. The system isn't designed for blow- through metering, and have been known to break under pressure.

3. The limit to the maf reading 510 gm/s is a computational limit in the computer, not the sensor. The MAF won't change that.

4. Benefits are negligible and pretty much any other mod is guaranteed to get you more performance on a car that will be dyno calibrated.

That said:

Hope this helps,

(stock MAF, screened, never have to worry about it causing problems.)

Actually the MAF from GM comes with a screen, the aftermarket ones do not. I have one on my car... I have removed the screen though due to my intake setup (WS6)

Nope, factory LS6 have no screen... as Christian mentioned though the induction path is a straight shot on those cars.

Looks like somebody pawned a regular LS1 MAF off on you...

Trust me it's not... Check out a GM P/N for a replacement GM 2002 Z06 MAF.... it comes with the screen...

If you look at a Z06 car there is no screen.. but the "GM Replacement" ones do come with it... I don't have the P/N off hand but I got the P/N from a Vette Messageboard where they were discussing every little aspect of the Z06 MAF. Infact I tried a bunch of different MAF curves, and gues what the only one that worked was one taken directly off of a 2002 Z06 Corvette, all the other LS1 MAFs have a different flow curve...

I'll back that up. My ZO6 MAF from LS1Speed.com had a screen in it. From the factory 01' ZO6's had them, but 02's didnt.
