LS1SPEED.com in IL, up to par - cam choice?

Guys I am curious if anyone knows anything about the guys at LS1SPEED, I am gonna probably have them do my chassis dyno and tuning, also they made a suggestion about cam, wasnt sure of their reputaion, I am not criticizing them if anyone on here knows them personally, just looking for info.

The dyno/tuner I talked to recommended an estimate like this for a cam on my motor, 236/242 .585/.596 112 LSA what do you guys think.

I have a Scat Cast 3.75, PM rods, Speed Pro Hyper Pistons, 2 Bolt mains with ARP Bolts and fully ported LT1 heads, 1.52 rockers, 30# injectors and a 52mm TB. I will not be sprayin this motor, I just want to get every bit out of it that I can NA.

Does anyone have experience with a cam that size.

I dont have any experience with that cam, but Ive heard some fairly good stuff about them. The do ALOT of stuff on F-Bodys, i was there once to pick up some O2 sims, and there were tons of F-Bodys everywhere.

I live near Speed Inc. and I have heard and experienced some good things with them.

Their tuner Johnny is awesome. He is among the best around here. I have talked to some of my buddies who have had him tune their cars and there is nothing but good that comes out of their mouths. For tuning they are awesome!

As far as the cam......I think that cam should be able to lay down some good power. Comp Cam's are great and and those numbers look great. I would listen to what his suggestion is. He tunes a lot of fast cars out there.

The specs of the cam look very similar to that of the GM847, which has been a proven performer. I would say that his cam recommandation is a good one.

They've done some work for me, including the SLP clutch/flywheel package on my Z28 and the Loudmouth exhaust on my SS. I was very happy with their pricing and their customer service, not to mention the work they do. I don't think you'll have a problem with them at all, but if you want some other serious opinions, check out www.mfba.org , the Midwest F-Body Association. Lots of other guys have had work done there and you might get much better opinions.

Highly recommend Speed, Inc.!

I highly recommend Speed inc. also, I let them reprogram my pcm for my camaro to my cam , gear ratio, and disable the vats system and other mods since its from the 4th gen camaros.. and i'm going back for a dyno tune once my heads are done and my new cam is in .. Thumbs up!

The 236/242 cam can get you 375 rwhp with a good tune.

Speed Inc., they're awesome. I just ordered about $1k in parts from them today. Gotta love long tubes.

They're reputable, they have a pretty large shop and seem to know what theyre doing. Whenever I've been there theres always been flocks of f-bodies parked outside, some of which are the employees/owners i believe

The tuner's Name is Jim not Johnny. And his car is a 355 with a single turbo that makes 774RWHP & 774RWTQ. Everyones car that works there is sickly fast. They've Done thousands of dollars worth of work to my car. Stoker, Blower, fuel system, Clutch. Top notch guys......IMHO.........joe

BTW. If your looking to call them, Ask for Larry. His street Camaro has gone 9.80's. So I think he can help you with cam selection & make an appointment. But be ready to wait. They are a very busy shop.

Thats going to be pretty tame in a stroker motor, however it will make MUCH more than 375 rwhp as said above.

Didn't notice it was for a stroker. That 375 rwhp was on stock block.

Speed Inc is great!

My friends and I were literally some of their first customers. My buddy Brian started buying parts from them about 5 years ago before they even had a shop! They have really grown and they are crazy busy now but they rock!

They know what they are talking about...just look at their shop cars. They are all street cars and all in the 9s or 10s. And by street cars I mean that you will see them driving them around on every nice day of the year, not just Saturdays and Sundays.

My friend has the same cam (I think the specs are the same) from them. He made 365 RWHP and 415 RWTQ in his 383 A4 T/A with shorty headers and a restrictive intake. He also has heads that are more suited toward nitrous use. Don't let the peak numbers fool you, that was with about 20 miles on the engine, and you should see the torque and HP curve they are amazingly flat. The car pulls smooth and rediculously fast to about 6800 RPMs. We figure with long tubes, a better intake and some more break in miles the car will be in the neighborhood of 390RWHP and 430 RWTQ. The car should go easy 11.70s N/A. With heads suited for nitrous we think that 10.70s on a 150 shot will be attainable. The car is really good on the street too. Aside from being noisy and getting typical 383/A4 gas mileage it is really fun to drive on the street.

Like I said, they know what they are talking about. I have nothing but good things to say about them and I know my 3 other friends would all say the same.
