LS1 swap w/ LT1 electronics....

So I was thinking about this...

Would it be possible to run a LS1 off of an LT1 wiring harness with some modification. The only main problems I could forsee would be ignition and fuel control.

I think if there is a way to use the LS1 crank signals into the computer, then that would fix all ignition issues if you used an LTCC or Delteq.

Then you have the fuel system... I would imagine that you could just run a custom return fuel system on the LS1 and it should run fine... right?

You would prolly need a LT1 knock sensor as well.

I think it would be a cool project and might make tuning easier and simpler while retaining all the stock wiring.

Just playing with ideas in my head.

I would think the knock sensor is completely different. A 305 has a different knock sensor than a 350. I would also think the blocks material would also play a part in how the knock sensor would work.
Why not run a F.A.S.T. system or the like and have the ultimate in tuning control?
I know you say your kicking the idea a round but I suppose if you like trial and error stuff then go for it

In a word... why?

The LS1 PCM and LS1Edit allows more powerful tuning than an LT1 PCM. As I see it, you would actually lose tuning flexibility.

that is what i was thinking^ If you went through the trouble to install an ls1, why wouldn't you just get the harness to go with it? An lt1 harness and pcm wouldn't work reguardless.
