LS1 to LT1 slave cylinder conversion???

I bought the spec stage III clutch and I was going to pay to have it installed. Well, the shop saw my leaking slave cylinder by the tranny and said "You shoud definitely get that fixed soon, and you should buy the LS1 slave cylinder to install cause they last longer and are better".

Can this be done? If not, what's a good fix to stop the leak? Thanks!

the ls1 doesn't have a slave if i remember correctly, it has a hydralic throw out bearing. it is possible to convert. i believe you will need the adjustable throw out bearing from mcleod and one of their adjustable bellhousing to make this work. i could be wrong, but thats what a few of the impala guys did when they swapped t56's into their cars.

that is too much trouble at this point. I need to get the clutch put in soon so I can enter the dreaded 500 mile break in period. So what's the best thing to do to repair or replace the slave cylinder? Just get a GM new slave cylinder or is their an aftermarket slave cylinder or other option?

your best bet is to probably just get another stocker. i believe it comes with the master and res for like 90 bucks or something. i have an old one on my trans, but i am not sure if its any good.

OK, new question. where's the cheapest place to get a stocker, or where did you find yours for $90? And if I get a replacement slave cylinder, will that fix my leak there for sure, or is there another part that contributes to the leaky slave cylinder? Thanks guys

i believe the dealer sells them for that price, or maybe thats the special price from one of your buddys behind the parts counter. i would think either the braided line or the slave it self would be bad. but i am really not totally sure.
