I have a 94z and I love my LT1, but if I was gonna buy a new Z...it would definately be a LS1. The parts may be a little more expensive, but they make some crazy power. I mean, I have a buddy that has a LS1 and with just a few mods (granted one is a 4000 stall) he is running 7.30's in the 1/8. Every LS1 I have seen, with mods, are just unreal on the power they make....but I do love my LT1.

I would buy a LS1, GM made alot of improvements to the engine vs the Lt1. I used to have a 95 Lt1 stroker, sold it. I miss it every day, but I would buy a Ls1. I have some friends running high 11's with Ls6 cam, exhaust, and other bolt -ons.

yes sah, gotta love that oil consumption built right into the Ls1. Lt1's just leak out!

I would give the Ls1 a try, it's impossible to say unless you drove one which one you would like. Either way you can't go wrong. As far as looks go, it's a tie, on one the front end looks like a Geo Metro on steroids and the other looks like a souped up Chrysler Sebring.

Not to mention, the engine bay looks like it has alot more room to work on. You can atleast see the headers on an LS1

I love the feel, the sound, and the head snap I get from my LT1, but if I had the Xtra $$ I'd probably get an LS1, just too say Ive owned one. If you decide you miss the LT1's you could always sell the LS1, or by a cheap LT1 and have both. Ive talked to alot of people that have owned both and most prefer the feel and sound of the LT1, but of course the LS1 is faster, even though it doesnt feel as fast.

Yeah i love my lt1 also. But if i had to do it over again i would of saved up a bit more and got an ls1. Its just a better engine imo. But you could also get a cheap lt1 and build the engine for about the same price you can get a ls1 and a few mods. So imo that would be a tossup.

Just wait a couple/few more years and the Ls1's will come down in price...a lot? who knows, it is inevitable though unless you own some rare one with 1 mile on it and in a time capsule. So will the Lt1's...unfortunately. An Lt1 in awesome shape isn't cheap...at least not the 8 grand I spent on my 95 Lt1, I had enough cash for an Ls1, but they werent anything better in my eyes, just different. it isnt always about money or what's worth more in the books.

I have run across a few threads where guys actually switched from Ls1 to Lt1, they liked it better...

Use the proceeds to buy a 95 A-4 and maybe you will have enough left over to build a 396 with TC and a 12 bolt. Now we're talkin'.

How totaled is your Z?

Depends... how modded was your car and what can you get off of it?

If nothing.... I'd Go LS-1 ... but I sure as hell wouldn't get a Camaro not badass enough ... now the LS-1 WS6 .... ahhh that strikes terror in the hearts of men.

honostly if I had to do it all again when I had the cash I would of dumped the LT and dropped in the LS6 like I had originally planned .... now I spent damn near the same cash and I"m not even close to where I want to be.... I only changed my ind because right when I was set to order everything... I had to ask the question on another F-body forum ... and the LT-1 guys were like No! Don't Do it! LT-1's are great... blah blah... Then the LS-1 guys where like Do it! Do it! LS-1's are awsome blah blah... then it turned into one of the worse LT-1 vs LS-1 bash war I've ever seen. Go with your heart kid... get the LS-1 wish I did...

You want "awesome"? Get a 97SS and mod the hell out of it.

Take a look at the SS from the front end at hood level. It's like looking at the business end of a 44 MAG.

Look at the 98+ and its like being face to face with a guppy.

No offense intended, but...
