Ls1 Lid on LT1?
Ls1 Lid on LT1?
Do you think a LS1 lid on a LT1 will make more power then a CAI { I have a homemade CAI made from 3 1/2 exhaust}? I know Roadtrip did his and did a fine job. Also put down good numbers. But has anyone tracked or dyno a before and after?
Re: Ls1 Lid on LT1?
Roadtrip has a way that will clear the stock hood. What is not worth the work? 6rwhp 10rwhp? When I had my 347 mustang I had a 300 dollar 4inch power pipe from anderson motorsports that stared in the fender and bent 3 times beofre getting to the TB. I talked to engine buiders I made a pipe that was 3 1/2 cai that was straight with one 45 degree bend to the TB. On the the dyno the car picked up 9 rwhp and 14 rwtq and average 6/7 rwhp all the way up the power band with 9/10 rwtq. Just by straighting out the air flow to the motor.

Re: Ls1 Lid on LT1?
Sure it'll fit as long as you want to cut up the front frame of the car like Roadtrip has done. Stk hood or aftermarket hood it'll wokr it just depends on what path you want to go.
Re: Ls1 Lid on LT1?
With the UltraZ hood you could probably make one of the Voit intakes work. With a similar style the impala guys see 20-30hp increase over stock and a 10-15 increase over a stock placement cold air. To me that is totally worth it.
Re: Ls1 Lid on LT1?
I have put this on three cars.
1.Mine- VFN 3" SS hood, (not that tall of a hood,)
2.Kryckter- VFN 4" Trans am hood- Easy install ,complete upper radiator support with lid just bolted on
3.Zach- Stock Trans am hood!!!- Hard to install had to cut the frame, radiator ,inner sheet metal of hood, and lower A/C condensor as i did on my install.
I have some pics on my website, i used to have a write up , but i pulled it a while back,, no place to host the pics.
Is it worth it , I say Yes it is. I noticed a difference on the streets, on a before and after race against the same car
