LS1 Brake upgrade/ What lines?

Just bought a set of LS1 front brakes for my LT1. I sat down to order brake lines and I have come across a problem.

What do I order? It seems that the lines are sold in sets of 4. Do I order the set for LS1 cars? Will these rear brake lines work on my LT1 rear brakes?

I know this has to have been addressed, but a search always seems to bring back instructions on what I need. These instructions ussually include using the stock lines.

Thanks for any input.

I reused my LT1 brakes line when I did the swap a few years ago. I don't understand why you have to order the set of four lines? What and where are you ordering? You could go to about any NAPA or Carquest parts shops and order single lines.

I also reused my LT1 lines. The LS1 line is a little different and use’s a different bracket at the flex to hard line attach point. I found it easier to modify the LT1 bracket (cut and bend 80-90 degrees) and use the original LT1 line. This provided plenty of length at full steering and suspension travel. I did use the LS1 banjo bolt with the LT1 line because I had heard that the threads were different.

If you need new lines you might consider getting new LT1 lines.

If you are going to order braided lines the LS1 lines will work fine.

I agreed and did the same. I found the LS1 lines did not have the correct pattern hard fitting to "lock" into the frame bracket to hold it securely and ensure the line did not lossen over time. I didn't feel like taking chances with the LS1 lines although I like their length. Maybe there are difference patterns to these brackets depending on what year donor car is used because I have heard many use the LS1 lines...but for what I had in front of me to work with the LT1 lines worked best for me.

Don, I am assuming I have to order four lines because of them being braided. I guess that it would defeat the purpose of braided lines if they weren't on both the front and the back.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I need to order the set for LT1 brakes.

If anyone else has any comments I am all ears.

Well, if you want braided lines get all of them braided. It is best to replace them all at once. Actually I believe there are 5 lines total. There is another one around the axle, or is that my truck I'm thinking of?!
