Cool

Even if this board does go with what you call the flavor of the month. As long as that person or company is turning out quality work for a fair price, they stand a good chance of getting my money. I haven't heard any bad experiences with Loyd, and for what he charges his product is very attractive.

I would rather give my money to a board member or sponsor than to someone else. And since a bad port job that performs like crap and a awsome port job look the same to me, I want some one I can trust. Even if I have to send my heads halfway accross the country.

Anybody else have any flow numbers or HP figures from his heads?

Definetly, guys Lloyd goes the distance for everyone, if you have a problem he'll fix it for free, try that anywhere around here & you'll get kicked in the face or something. I dunno if I told this story but I baught a set of LT1 heads made by Lloyd off a board member here, its been over 3 years since LLoyd ported them, & well the guides started to go on the heads & exhaust guides where totally shot after 3 years, seems like wrong pushrod length of very tough springs. Either way, Lloyd didn't know what caused this since he's never had this happen before (as bad as this) & the port job wasn't to blame for it, but then Lloyd said he did put those springs on & did the valve job, even thought there wasn't anything wrong, just because he doesn't know what might have caused it or maybe the heads were bad & maybe by some chance he missed it when doing the heads, he said he'll fix them for free, I'm the second owner & he said that to me!!!

Anyways, he got the heads & paid for all the fixing, I also got him to install bronze liners, after he took care of them for me I got the heads & noticed one of the guides had a hairline crack & the rest were fine, then a few days later a few other cracks appeared in the other guides, seems because he had only the exhaust guides replaced (they were bad) & installed bronze liners into the intakes, well the intakes were so old they couldn't hold the liner in there for long it seems & just started cracking, good thing I noticed it happening before putting them on, I told Lloyd of this & he told me to send them back again & that he would port a completely new set for me & get a SERDI 5 angle valve job done & all new valves put in with back cut & bronze liners into all of the guides & milled & checked & got them flowed 10 times just to get them perfect because of the trouble I had.

Now, just because he felt bad for me & said he can't rule out the chance that of the thousands of heads he does maybe by some chance the shop that did the valve job on those other heads over 3 years ago might have missed it, he said he'll do all this for me, you know how much he charged me?

ZERO! & paid for shipping.

Now I"m sorry, but I would never take my business anywhere else!

Here are the flow #`s from a set of heads he did for me.

.1 67- 50
.2 137- 108
.4 223- 162
.5 250- 178
.6 263- 186

I have the stock sized valves in the head.

I made 368hp 339tq with shortie headers, CC306, stock TB, 24# injectors and PCM for less tuning.
That was also through the exhaust and I have a 9" that robs a little power.
I`m looking forward to getting it back on the dyno with LT`s,bigger TB and injectors and better tuning.

bunker, that's a helluva deal you got. Loyd does appear to be a standup guy,and thats good. Not many people will back thier work like he did,im VERY impressed.

EB Porting did my heads. he has done quite a few LT1 heads, and here is a sample of a set of his. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=142551

There are porters in almost every town that can port the heads as well as Lloyd if they are actually trying.

You can probably get equivelent work for the same price IF you know the right people and get their "A" game. If you do not know the right people you can get the same work for alot more $$$. Some charge alot more for less work, or feel comfortable with not giving their "A" game unless you are a "special" customer.

If you have a porter or machine shop that you trust and are happy with their results, there is NO reason to ship heads to Lloyd. I can assure you that you CAN get the same or better work in almost any town if they have some porting skillz and are really trying.

klbjoc- Madwolf had a good post about stock injectors being maxed out at about 340 RWHP so I would definitely get some larger injectors and TB with some more tuning. I can see 380 RWHP or more with your set up. Pretty good for stock valves.

My friend got a set of heads ported by Lloyd a few weeks ago.
We'll see what kind of numbers it puts down in a few weeks when the rest of the parts come in for the heads/cam swap.
Stock 96 LT1 motor with 6 speed and bolt ons netted 288rwhp and I think 310rwtq.

Cool

Thanks everyone for your responses. I've compared all your flow figures and they are all very close. I also compared them to several other profesionally ported heads and aftermarket heads. The max figures are right on or a little low but the midlift figures really shine. Those strong midlift numbers are whats going to give you a strong and broad powerband, which is what I want.

Unless I find something better for the price (doubt it), I'm pretty sure I'll be sending my heads to Loyd.

NOW...anybody got a set for sale I can send him to port so I don't have to pull mine??
