Question Loyd Elliot heads

I'm doing a head cam swap this winter and doing the research now. Several people have refered me to Loyd for quality head porting. Just interested if anyone has had their heads done by him and what the results were. I've already contacted him about price and such and I'm looking to see what kind of performance I can expect from a set of his heads.

Thanx

Yeah definetly go with Lloyd over anyone else, here is my flow numbers, I wanted them to make power so I concentrated on midlift number, here is the flow numbers:

.3 202.1/147.8
.4 240.0/172.9
.5 264.9/187.8
.55 266.4/193.5

he has some good numbers, but i think "dont go anywhere else" is a bit harsh. there are many good porters out there, just keep doing the research and you'll see.

i sent my heads to Virginia,i wouldnt send em to Loyd, but thats just me.....

My heads were ported by Lloyd the first time. His porting work looked very nice. I would send him bare heads to be ported again.

I also agree about the statement made. As good as Lloyd is he is not the only guy in the world who can port heads and the statement is a little harsh

As far as port work and bang for buck Lloyd does a Killer Job. I would recomend him to port bare heads any time. He will always tell you what is going on and do a great job.

I realize there are many machinists that do quality work. My problem is the only performance shop local to me I wouldn't trust to work on my lawn mower (long story). I've emailed Loyd and for what he does the price seems to be very reasonable. My car is a daily driver and I'm more worried about torque and a broad power band than peak power.

Anybody happen to know what stock LT1 heads flow???

Flow #'s differ from flow bench to flow bench, so it really is tough to base your decision strictly on such. Lloyd ported a set of heads for me and I got some great #'s. I believe they were ~275int./190exh.

If you want more mid-range lift, you can request it and he can most likely accommodate...

why? because i felt more comfortable with the guy that did mine, nothing against loyd.. i have seen my porters work, and it has proven itself. Also there tends to be a "flavor of the month" on this board, for a long time it was Skarado's Advanced Induction heads that everybody drooled over, now it seems to be Loyd.
I also dont have stock heads,i have a set of AFR 220 LT4's.

my guy did a ported head setup with a Joe Overton custom grind cam/tune and made 450+ at the tires in a 6 speed car.

Lloyd lives about an hour from me in Red Oak, TX and I'd hardly describe what he offers as "the flavor of the month" This guy is here to stay! He's been doing work on heads long before cz28.com ever heard about him...

He's got my heads now, and he responds quickly to questions and gives frequent updates. Bang for the buck in head porting, he can't be beat.

YUP...He was nice enough to build me a 406 that used more oil than gas and then refused to correct it. When I tore the engine down, the parts in it weren't even what I paid for.

Now I build my own engines.

like i said,im taking nothing away from Loyd,or his work, but you HAVE to admit this board goes through it's periods were this guy is this and this guy is that. Im glad everyone is happy with Loyd,im just saying that he isnt the only game in town.
