lowering question

OK, I've bought Eibach prokit springs and they will be going on with a set of Bilstein HDs I am going to purchase from Strano. I knoow this will lower my car by about 1.4 inches but I ahve heard rumors about needing to get an adjustable panhard rod or something like that if i lower the car. true or complete fallacy?

it's a 97 z28 'vert in case it matters.

you wil want to center the axle, so you will want an adj. panhard rod

It's not absolutely necessary for you to rush out and purchase an adjustable panhard rod after you lower your car. There won't be any adverse effects if you choose not to buy one.

I don't see a reason to rush out and get on either! I've got Eibach Sportlines on mine and it's prob 2' lower than stock and it's cool without!

But what you will need is the relocation brackets. Without them you'll get some serious wheel hop and crappy traction.

OK, so I need an adjustable panhard brace and relocation brackets? Could you guys go into a wee bit more detail as to what in the hell those are and are their aftermarket options or will GM Parts Direct be my friend on this one?

Relocation brakets are aftermarket only. They change the lower control arm mounting points on the rear axle housing to compensate for lowering. They basically lower the mounting point so where the lower control arms attach to the axle housing it is still lower then the body because when you lower the body they are then more level and that is not an ideal thing. You could get wheel hop and traction lose. From a performance standpoint LCA Relocation brackets would be the first thing you would want to get but IMO you should get an adjustable panhard rod. Do you really want to be driving around with your back wheels ~0.5cm more to the passenger side then the front ones? I wouldn't. As for LCA relocation brackets make sure you get weld-in ones! http://www.spohn.net/category.cfm?categoryid=1042

thanks guys. All things considered I think I'm just going to take it to Brake Masters or Midas and have them install the shocks and springs.
